Well, I just finished reading a transcript of GWB’s inaugural speech, and I can confirm it’s the same speech he’s given on every speech-giving occasion throughout the course of the last three and a half years. I’d post a few quotes from it, but, well, I don’t have to. That’s the point. Not that it’s a bad speech. It isn’t. But “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” isn’t a bad song, either—that doesn’t mean I’m not tired of hearing it. I mean, realistically, Bush didn’t even need to be there today. They could have fastened a TV to the top of a headless mannequin and pieced together the same speech with a montage of clips from past speeches. No one would’ve known the difference. Bush could’ve stayed home and cut down on the cost of security. Plus, it would’ve given us something to talk about.
