Propaganda, Cont'd.

A couple of updates since Wednesday’s post about Maggie Gallagher being paid to promote Bush policies in her columns.

1. Bush has since put his foot down on the issue of paying off columnists, telling his Cabinet, “Our agenda ought to be able to stand on its own two feet.” To which his Cabinet replied, “Agenda? What agenda?,” then swept the president under a rug.

2. According to CBS News, syndicated columnist Mike McManus “received at least $4,000 from the Department of Health and Human Services for work in support of President Bush’s effort to promote marriage.” This would make him the third such paid propagandist. So much for Update No. 1, then.

3. A true believer Dem I know forwarded me the American Progress Action Fund’s daily Talking Points email this morning. “Don’t believe anything you read from conservative pundits,” they say. “Americans should be skeptical when assessing conservative ‘journalists’ pushing the White House line.” I love it. Liberal propaganda about conservative propaganda. I thought the day would never come.
